Pre-Insulated Electric Heat Tracing Tube Bundle

Pre-Insulated Electric Heat Tracing Tube Bundle

Pre-insulated electric heat tracing tube bundles bring process tubing, an electric heating cable and insulation together in a protective jacket. They are used for instrument, sampling and process lines where freezing or heat loss can interrupt the flow. The tube carries the process medium while the heating cable replaces heat lost to the surroundings; insulation reduces that loss. Tube material and construction must suit the medium and pressure, while the heating circuit is selected for the required temperature, ambient conditions and available power. The assembly configuration and acceptance requirements are agreed for each project.

Bundle Construction

Protective outer jacket: HR-PVC or TPU
Reflective aluminum-foil layer helps reduce radiant heat loss
Fiberglass thermal insulation separates the heated core from the jacket
Heated core: stainless steel process tube or tubes arranged with the electric tracing cable
The process tube carries the medium, the tracing cable supplies heat, insulation limits heat loss, and the jacket protects the assembly during handling and installation. The jacket does not determine process-tube chemical compatibility, and the insulation does not increase the allowable process pressure.

Features and Applications

  • Reduce freezing risk in exposed instrument, sample and process lines.
  • Maintain a specified line temperature after heat-loss and cable-output calculations.
  • Support viscosity control for media that become difficult to move at low temperature.
  • Reduce field assembly compared with installing tube, tracing cable and insulation separately.
The required maintain temperature, heat-up time, lowest ambient temperature, wind exposure and insulation condition must be evaluated before selecting cable type and output.

Typical Applications

  • Impulse and instrument lines between process connections and transmitters.
  • Analyzer sample lines that need stable transport temperature.
  • Water, light oil, wax or wax-oil lines requiring freeze protection or viscosity control.
  • Temperature-sensitive chemical transfer lines after material compatibility review.
  • Condensate, steam-related service and outdoor small-bore lines when the tube and trace design suit the duty.

Bundle Configuration and Ordering

ItemRequirements to provide
Process tubeQuantity, grade, seamless or welded construction, OD, wall, standard, medium, pressure and operating temperature.
Heat tracingCable type, voltage, nominal output, maintain temperature, exposure limit and control method.
EnvironmentMinimum ambient temperature, outdoor exposure, moisture, chemicals, UV and hazardous-area requirements.
Insulation and jacketInsulation type, jacket material, finished diameter and UV, chemical and weather exposure.
InstallationBundle length and tolerance, circuit length, reel size, minimum bend radius, entry and end seals.
VerificationTube tests, electrical checks, marking, traceability and required reports.

How the Bundle Is Selected

1. Process Duty Medium, pressure, operating temperature
2. Thermal Duty Maintain temperature, minimum ambient, exposure
3. Electrical Duty Voltage, circuit length, control, area classification
4. Mechanical Build Tube count, jacket, bend radius, end treatment

The heating cable output is selected from a heat-loss calculation. A published wattage from another bundle should not be copied without checking ambient temperature, insulation, supply voltage, circuit length and temperature limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an insulated tube the same as a heat tracing tube bundle?

No. Insulation slows heat loss. A heat tracing bundle also contains a heating element that supplies heat.

Can one standard cable work for every project?

No. Voltage, output, exposure temperature, circuit length and control method vary. Share electrical supply and temperature data before cable selection.

How is pressure capability determined?

Pressure capability belongs to the process tube and its connections. It depends on material, dimensions, temperature, standard and design code; the jacket and insulation do not increase it.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Provide the medium, tube grade and size, working pressure and temperature, maintain temperature, lowest ambient temperature, voltage, circuit length, installation area, jacket preference and required documentation.

Inspection, End Treatment and Delivery

An agreed inspection plan may include material verification, dimensional checks, process-tube pressure or leak testing, electrical resistance and insulation checks, and jacket inspection. End sealing, exposed lead length, labels, reel or coil dimensions and export packing should be written into the purchase specification.
