1. What is P690 Nonmagnetic Steel?
P690 is a high-strength austenitic alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and very low magnetic permeability (μr ≤ 1.01). It is designed for use in oil & gas, marine, and defense applications where magnetic interference must be avoided.
2. Why is P690 considered nonmagnetic?
Because of its high nickel and manganese content, P690 maintains a fully austenitic microstructure, resulting in extremely low magnetic attraction even under strong magnetic fields.
3. What is the typical strength of P690 steel?
The alloy offers a minimum yield strength of 690 MPa with high toughness and ductility, even at low temperatures.
